We had a great time for John's birthday. I wanted a big bash for my special guy and lucky for me, Ben was in agreement. We probably won't do a big party every year for our kids, in fact we may not do another party for people other than family until John is 5. But hey, you only get one first birthday.
It was really nice because John's birthday is in July and we were able to use our Landlord's backyard for the party. We had tacos and of course cake. It was my first time working with fondant and I guess it turned out all right, but took a LONG time to make. Hopefully I'll get better with practice.
While it may not be the best looking cake, it sure did taste excellent. Ben took the remaining cake to work and everyone loved it. So yay.
John was most excited about the food and the fact that we let him get messy and run around. We had a great time watching him.
Starting to get the hang of opening his presents.
It was a great first birthday for our little boy. We are truly blessed to have so many wonderful family and friends who love and support our family and we are especially grateful for this little guy. I can't believe that one year has passed.
If I were to do this again I probably would have done a lot more the day before and just had it ready to bring out. I was glad for the menu we picked. It was easy and delicious.
These girls could almost be twins by the look of this picture. I normally don't think they look so much alike but the camera really captured something. Such cute cousins John has. He also had his my sisters 3 other kids and the brother to these two there. John is not without playmates his age in our family, thank goodness.
Mmmm.....Tacos.
Enjoying the good eats!
Here's the schmorgesborg (sp?) It was super yummy, easy to make, and kid friendly. What more can you ask for at a party for a one year old and most of the guest being under the age of 4?

My two favorite guys.
Some of John's haul waiting to be opened.
Opening presents with you one year old really involves you opening most of the presents and being excited and feeling blessed for the amazing things that your child got while at the same time pulliong him to the next amusing package and coaxing him to open it.
